The 7th Annual Umbra x Pratt Design Competition recently took place and the winning design is just too cute. Designed by Jeff Rubio, the “Clutch Clip” is a stylish clip that resembles a handbag handle that can be placed on paper bags or other items and used to transport them. The students whose winning designs are determined by the Umbra design team to be eligible for production and meet Umbra’s criteria of quality and affordability, will be given the opportunity to work with Umbra’s team to create a prototype. If a design is manufactured, it will appear in Umbra’s catalog and earn royalties for the student designer and Pratt Institute.

Rings, while very fashionable, can be very pricey. Some would say “that’s the price you pay for fashion” while others would say “Are you serious? I’m not made out of money”. If you fall in the second camp, you might want to check out Sophie Kemp’s currency rings. Each ring is crafted using a different type of currency. If you want to sport your support of the US dollar, why not wear one on your finger? Want to show off your love of the various countries of the world? Wear a different bill on each finger.

Diffus' Solar Handbag has released. Diffus has integrated 100 miniaturized monocrystalline silicon ‘sequins’ onto the bag's exterior - enough to generate juice to power your phones or laptop.
"the daytime hours one hundred small solar power stations distributed on The Solar Handbag generate enough electricity to charge a mobile device and a powerful lithium ion battery hidden in a small compartment. At night or in dark surroundings, opening the bag activates optical fibres attached to the inside of the bag that give a diffuse glow and assist in the search for keys, purse or other objects of vital importance.
